ABOUT ME

I have over three decades of legislative and policy advocacy, lobbying, strategic organizing, campaign development, political and event planning experience, skills, and relationships with a proven track record of success.  I have relationships with key Connecticut legislative and policy leaders and an extensive network of coalition, non-profit, labor and advocacy relationships and partnerships. 

My entire career has involved working in coalitions and partnerships to collectively advance policies, laws and system changes that have the ability to improve people’s lives and livelihoods.

I’ve worked on issues ranging from healthcare equity, access and delivery, LGBTQIA, mental and behavioral health parity, gender-based and sexual violence, expansion of voting right including to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated  individuals, improved awareness of and access to full mobility for wheelchair users, increased funding and resourcing for public education and higher education, protecting prevailing wage and apprenticeship ratios for all building trades, legislative approval of state employee union contracts, tenants rights, and expanding pesticide free laws, and protecting our environment.

I founded Brakeman Advocacy in 2023 and am proud to have been able to work with clients whose missions and goals align with my values.  As such, my business model supports meeting my clients in ways that don’t constrain their budget and commitment to those they serve.   I share my knowledge, experience and skills in ways that include my client’s in achieving their priority policy initiatives while expanding my own knowledge base.
